I understand Ellis is gay, but i kinda don't want him to end up with Chip. The two main characters ending up together is such a cliche to me. Still love the comic though, even if it follows the cliche.

@lil_shiro: That's an odd thing to call a cliché, though.
Would you rather that one of the main characters ended up with this person you couldn't give less of a fuck about?

Nor do we know if this comic follows what you call a cliché, since it's not finished yet.

@lil_shiro: mmmm... it's your own opinion... :/

cliché... in all movies, and maybe the most of the animes, the hero ends up with the pretty girl, it's just something normal.

cliché whould be, more like...

"Ellis got amnessia..."
"Chip has a twin brother and the brother is the villain in the story"

Those are more cliché in my opinion.
Not the pairing... a bullied boy like ellis, i whould like to see him with someone as cute and supporting has Chip.
it's my own opinion.
Love this comic.

@Vivi:

I think, when it comes to comics on SmackJeeves, yes this is cliche.

Why? Becuase there are SO many yaoi/BL comics. Infact, when you look around, the most favorite ones usually contain yaoi. It seems that the art doesn't even have to be that good. As long as you slap BL on the banner for the comic, it gets fans no matter what.
So, I do understand the cliche part.
But what is different about this is: This comic doesn't shove it down your throat. Like others do.
I like the relationship they have and like that even though the two of them are leaning towards homosexuality, it's not yaoi as much as it is bromance.

And I agree, the idea you stated are also BIG cliches.

P.S. - I have no idea why I replied to you. SOrry. Guess i should just posted this alone instead of "@" you. :P

@Claude

Doesn't it say "romantic comedy" in the comic description??

How is it a cliche if it's been the center of the plot and the very genre of this comic from the start??

That's like saying a person using magic in a fantasy novel is cliche?? It's just part of the genre?? Why would a romantic comedy focus on two people who don't end up together??

Also I'd hardly lump this in with the yaoi craze because it's not overly-sexualized fetishization of gay men by straight girls. I mean Chip don't even got genitals. :/

Just some lil gay kid with a jerk ass brother right now, yo

Oh wow, I love this comic so much!

I understand what everyone is saying with the "cliche" idea but personally I agree with Hoolygun. This is not a yaoi (Although, imo, the idea of the two main male characters getting together in a yaoi is not so much cliche as it is a basic, but changeable, plot element.)

The two characters are young and not overly sexualised. As has already been noted Chip doesn't have any genitalia so this cannot become a "mansex! hur-dur" fest if there was to be any romantic relationship between Chip and Ellis (Although whether there is or is not would not be a huge thing in my mind. It would be adorable but the story itself is damn good regardless).

Whilst this is advertised as a romantic comedy of sorts the main plot-line is not just centered around a "boy meets boy, boy is confused about sexuality, boy gets over it, they live happily ever after, nothing else happens throughout the entire story" type plot that so many other bl comics on Smackjeeves follow.

This comic is certainly not cliche and a romance between Chip and Ellis would be unconventional (and totes adorbs :P)if anything.

(Sorry for the long rant :) )

Why does everyone here assume Ellis is gay? As long as he doesn't say so himself, I wouldn't slap any lable on him.
It's not even all that sure to me he does fancy Chip. It might be just those awkward friendship-feelings that he has.
As to Ellis and Chip being romantically involved somewhere in the future: I admit it would be cute. But that's their (and the authors) decision.

@lil_shiro: The two main characters ending up together in any other genre could be considered a cliche but in a romantic comedy it is the reason they are the main characters. It is odd that you would say it is a cliche when that is pretty much the definition of the genre. This isn't just a fantasy comic, it is a romance one with fantasy elements.

To be honest, I don't always mind if the main characters get together in other genres as long as it seems natural and their experiences/the relationships between the characters support it if not lead to it (not forced). I don't mind either way as long as it flows right and doesn't betray the characters or the story in the process.
